TOMORROW

Hey, guys! How are you? Unfortunately I won't go to Cultura tomorrow. I've been feeling sick (sore throat, runny nose, headache) since last Saturday evening. I wasn't getting better, actually I started getting worse, my ear also started hurting. Last night I simply couldn't sleep because I coughed the whole night. So, this morning, I decided to go to the doctor because I couldn't stand it any longer and guess what? I have a throat and ear infection and also sinusitis. The doctor told me to stay home during the weekend and I'll start taking antibiotics tonight.
I hope you have a nice class with Taissia tomorrow.
Cheers!!!

Hi!

Finally... i discovered how to use this blog!! I'm Ana Luíza, 19 years old and I study medicine.
I tryed to write here last week, but I thought it so complicated! But in this year I'm getting used to use the computer, and sooner I will be able to use this.
About our breakfast, I can bring anything. I was thinking about some "coxinhas", because in the last semester, in Kassia's class, we was used to talk about this every saturday. But I think it will be cold ( I can say this? the food gets cold?), or maybe I can buy at 10:00... I don't know... I can bring chocolats too, I love it, or a cake.... I really don't know. What I should bring? And what everybody will bring??

Finally

Hello my friends...
Finally I`m writing on the blog.
For those who don`t know me yet, my name is Thiago and I am 26 years old.
I was born in Paranaíba-MS where I lived with my family until 2000. After, I went to São José do Rio Preto-SP with my two sisters and there I started my graduation course. Nevertheless, since 2003 I`m living alone in Brasília where I graduated in Biology at UnB and I expect to live here for some years.
At the moment, I`m doing a pos-graduation course in Molecular Patology at UnB too and I`m working and researching about Chagas` Disease. I`m a bit worried and nervous because this month I`ll go to an international annual meeting on Chagas` Disease research and I`ll present my work in English, talking for a lot of people in a large auditory. The problem is that my English is not very good, as you can see.
About our breakfast, I don`t know what to take!
Well, see you on Saturday!

Hello everyone!
We'll have breakfast together next Saturday, during the break.
So, what are you going to take? Write a comment saying what you intend to take so that we don't have too much of one thing and too little of others, ok?
Students from Mon-Wed class are also invited. It is going to be from 10:00 to 10:30 am.

Our breakfast!

Hi everyone!!

Have you ever decided our breakfast??

Kisses for all!

Fantastic Slater!

What makes Kelly Slater the greatest surfer of all time? There's the trophies - 37 ASP wins, 8 world titles, 5 Pipe Masters, Eddie Aikau victory. Then there's the stuff of myth, the high five with Rob Machado at Pipe, the rivalry with Andy Irons, the Letting Go tube at Teahupo'o, the dolphin guiding him to a winning wave at J-Bay. There's also the neatly book ended story - a poor kid with a single mom grows up at a beach in Florida with almost no waves, but natural talent and a burning competitive spirit take him to the top and he stays there. He becomes the youngest and oldest world champ in history. Ambition and charisma make him the sport's first true celebrity.

Kelly Slater - he's Ali, Jordan and Woods all in one. If Kelly didn't exist an author would have invented him. Yet now, as he makes a run at an unthinkable 9th world title, we know that he's real, and, just as he always has, he'll take us along for the ride.

At this morning about 3.am he won the 9x World Title....

interesting

The "good", in the expression"good-bye", is nothing about with "good" or "bom". This expression is one eufemismo for "God", because some people can't say the god name for other things, just when they can say about "God" , so we use, or write "good" to prevent say "God". The origin the expression is a kind os the sentence "God Be with You" , and "you" before was writing "ye". the complete sentence is "God be with you" was normal in the Shakespeare's time. and with the time the people started duplicated the "bye" and stayed "bye-bye".

This also happens in Portuguese, some times we hear somebody to say " tchau-tchau". They say two times, when one would be enough! But at last, language is language and use is use! Ah, In century XV it was common also to say " Godspeed! " as a farewell form, " would be equivalent to ours; Deus abençoe vc" , " Deus te dê muita prosperidade", etc...

I used to ...

When I was young I used to drink a disgusting fruit juice every morning. As my brother and I didn't like eating salad, my dad used to force us to drink this juice. He used to put everything we had at home in the juice: carrots, beets, oranges, apples and much more. We called it "suco atômico". ;-D. Now that I am a bit older I am used to eating more salad but I have to get used to eating more fruit. I don't eat fruit everyday. What about you? What did you use to do when you were younger? What to you have to get used to?

Hey guys! It is time to start working on our blog. What do you think of starting with a brief description of yourselves? A bit of your likes and dislikes? I'll be the first, ok?

As you should know by now, my name is Camila and I am 30 years old. I was born in Rio and have lived in Brasilia for one year and 3 months. I moved here because I got married and my husband is a civil servant. Some of my favourite pastimes are reading, cooking and watching good films. Dislikes? I don't really like waking up early or eating healthy food.

Enough about me. Now it is your turn. Who's next?

Cheers, Camila.
